Sensors for Measuring Vibration of Machines and Mechanisms

Vibration is a mechanical oscillation of a body. It may have different origins and can occur in various objects, mechanisms, machines, and equipment. In industrial units and machinery, vibration is characterized by specific parameters: vibration displacement, vibration velocity, and vibration acceleration. These parameters may indicate vibration disturbances or deviations from established standards, which can affect the condition and operation of the object or mechanism.

Vibration Measuring Converters from the Manufacturer

Sensors and modules are used for vibration measurement and monitoring purposes. Mechanical vibration measurement modules are indispensable in many industrial sectors, measurement laboratories, and other applications.

SKB Vibration and Resource offers a wide range of sensors designed for monitoring and measurement of vibration in various machines and components, such as bearings, rotors, shafts, slip rings, and others. In addition, our company offers instruments that enable monitoring of overall vibration levels and deviations, as well as specific vibration parameters, including vibration velocity, vibration acceleration, and vibration displacement.

Vibration Measurement: Main Parameters

1. Mechanical Vibration (Vibration Acceleration) Measurement Module

Vibration acceleration is the force that causes vibration. It characterizes the dynamic force interaction of internal machine elements that generates these vibrations. The module makes it possible to determine the acceleration value of the vibration signal.

It should be noted that there are no fixed standards or critical limits for vibration acceleration levels; however, with the use of sensors and similar instruments, it is possible to effectively diagnose defects of an impact nature. Therefore, vibration acceleration modules are widely used in gearboxes and bearings.

2. Vibration Velocity Measurement Sensor

Vibration velocity is the speed at which the monitored point of equipment moves during vibration along the measurement axis. The value of this vibration parameter is not the maximum value, but the root mean square (RMS) value. Vibration velocity makes it possible to evaluate the equivalence of the energy impact on machine supports produced by real and equivalent constant vibration signals.

3. Vibration Displacement Measurement Sensor

Vibration displacement measurement makes it possible to determine the maximum displacement limits of a specific point during vibration. Using sensors, it is possible to determine the distance between the extreme displacement points of an equipment element along the measurement axis.

In general, vibration measurement and monitoring allow prediction of vibration changes, assessment of the condition of a unit (machine or rotating element), identification of the causes of vibration changes, and detection of potential defects in advance.

Our company offers a wide range of vibration monitoring instruments. In particular, we provide vibration monitoring systems, vibration monitoring and measurement modules, vibration test stands, as well as measuring and control instruments. All products are supplied with the relevant documentation.
